Nashville police search for suspect, clues after man shot, killed south of downtown

Metro Nashville Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot to death south of downtown.

Officers were called to the intersection of Hart and Lewis Streets at about 1 a.m. Friday.

A witness told police he saw the victim, identified as 29-year-old Darrius Bergeron, approach the passenger side of a white SUV just before gunfire rang out, according to a statement from the department.

The SUV fled the scene toward Trimble Street.

Bergeron died at the scene, police said.
