Nashville police level charges after June drag race between Mustang, Harley turns deadly

Nashville police have arrested a man in connection to a drag race turned fatal crash in June on Nolensville Pike.

Marcus Fortney, 35, is charged with drag racing with serious bodily injury, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license and failure to yield resulting in a death.

The police department's traffic unit identified Fortney as the driver of a Ford Mustang that was seen drag racing at speeds near 80 miles per hour with a motorcycle just before the crash on June 17, a news release said Thursday.

The driver of the motorcycle, Kyle Holleran, 28, lost control of his Harley Davidson in the 4500 block of Nolensville Pike and crashed into a concrete wall.

Fortney was convicted in Davidson County for driving under the influence in 2022 and his Mississippi driver's license is currently suspended.

Fortney is currently out of jail on $26,000 bond awaiting trial.
