When a candidate gets that one-in-a-lifetime call, they will report for training in Houston, spending the next two years learning basic astronaut skills including walking, operating the space station, flying T-38 jet planes and controlling a robotic arm, NASA said.

NASA is hopeful that their new astronauts may one day be the first humans to fly to Mars.

Since 2000, astronauts have been traveling and living in space. Now, NASA is looking to “land the first woman and the next man on the Moon.” They will send people for missions to the Moon and to Mars, using the Orion spacecraft atop the Space Launch System.
