Napoleon man charged with DUI following rollover injury crash early Tuesday

Apr. 23—HANNAFORD, N.D. — A Napoleon, North Dakota, man was charged with DUI after the vehicle he was driving rolled near here, causing minor injuries to him and his passenger on Tuesday, April 23, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred 1 mile south of Hannaford at about 1 a.m. on N.D. Highway 1.

The patrol said in a news release that Jesse Pierce, 44, was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota southbound on Highway 1 when the pickup ran off the roadway, overturned, and landed on the passenger side.

Pierce and his passenger, Tasha Courtade, 54, Napoleon, sustained minor injuries in the crash and were transported to Cooperstown, North Dakota, for medical attention. They were both wearing seat belts.

Pierce was charged with misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Courtade was charged with possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Other agencies responding were Griggs County Sheriff's Office, Hannaford Fire Department and Cooperstown Ambulance.
