Naples man faces aggravated battery, aggravated assault charges after Naples Manor shooting

A Naples man faces several charges after three people were shot during a dispute involving a large gathering.

Jonathan Martinez, 21, faces four counts — three counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated assault.

Around 10:17 p.m. Sunday, Collier County deputies received a call for an altercation near the intersection of Sholtz Street and Georgia Avenue. Authorities said a fight broke out in the gathering of more than 20 people, and shots were fired. Bullets struck three people, who went to the hospital.

According to an arrest report from the Collier County Sheriff's Office, deputies found two victims had been shot — both in the lower back. They later received a call from Physicians Regional Medical Center, on Collier Boulevard, alerting a third victim had a bullet fragment lodged in his lower left hamstring and was also grazed by a bullet on his right leg, above the knee.

That victim said he didn't know or see the shooter.

One of the other victims said he drove to the area of Sholtz Street to help his brother, who was caught in a fight.

According to the report, Martinez pulled his T-shirt up, brandishing a firearm, and told the sibling he was going to shoot him. The victim said he then heard several gunshots and began running.

New charges: Ex-wife charged linked to Naples man, girlfriend's June shooting.

Martinez is next due in court June 10 for his arraignment.

911 calls detail encounter

The sheriff's office received at least four calls detailing the Sunday night encounter.

The first caller said she continuously saw cars arrive down the street.

She indicated she could see the individuals fight.

"There's a lot of noise, but I don't know what they're doing," the caller said.

A second caller said a group individuals were fighting and blocking Sholtz Street.

"Oh my gosh, please hurry up!" the caller suddenly screamed, later saying, "We can't move away from here."

A male caller reported about 30 people had gathered by the time he heard six gunshots.

A fourth caller, who lived on a different street and heard the gunshots, seemed surprised when the dispatcher corrected him on the shooting location.

"Someone already called?" he asked.
