A Naples man was arrested Tuesday after he set his roommate's room on fire and fled.

Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Rolando Perez Nunez, 22, on charges of first-degree arson.

Deputies responded to a call of a residential fire on Coco Avenue in Naples at 9:45 p.m. The 911 caller states Perez Nunez was running from the house after starting a fire in one of the bedrooms, the arrest report states.

They arrested him soon after.

Two residents were in the home when the fire was started. Investigators met with four of the five residents and learned that for the past four days multiple altercations had taken place in the home between Perez Nunez and the person whose room was set ablaze, according to the report.

The altercations began when Perez Nunez moved into the home a few weeks ago, and during those incidents, he made repeated comments about burning the home down, the report states.

A Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations detective responded to conduct an investigation and concluded the fire was intentionally set, originating on the mattress, the report indicates.

The detective reported that evidence indicated oil may have been used in an attempt to accelerate the fire.

Perez Nunez's arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 27.
