Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann, whose short-term deal runs until just after the home European Championship in July, does not plan another big break from the game and will either extend his contract or work elsewhere.

The 36-year-old, sacked by Bayern Munich this time last year, was appointed Germany coach in September and says long pauses are not for him.

"In general, I know that a one-year break after the European Championship - or a six-month break - is out of the question for me. Unless I don't get an offer," he joked while meeting fans in Frankfurt on Wednesday.

Asked specifically what his next move would be after the June 14-July 14 Euros, the former Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig coach added: "I can't decide that, because you kind of need someone to offer you a job."

Germany may seek to extend his deal if the Euros go well, but either way Nagelsmann might also opt to go back to club football, with media reports even linking him with a return to Bayern.

Nagelsmann also announced during the fan meeting that Germany would start their European Championship preparations proper with a public training session on May 27 in the eastern city of Jena.
