STORY: Standing next to Ri, the North Korean leader closed his eyes at some points during the anthem, while military officers and veterans sang with gusto before the song culminated in a fireworks display.

Most of the attendees were not wearing a face mask at the massive gathering, which was held on Wednesday (July 27) night.

In a speech to commemorate the event, Kim said his country is ready to mobilize its nuclear war deterrent and counter any U.S. military clash. He criticized South Korea's new president for the first time, warning Seoul was pushing the countries towards the brink of war.
