Myrtle Beach man gets 15-year sentence on drug, gun charges

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug and gun charges in Horry County Circuit Court.

Alan Christopher Hicks, 40, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to first-offense manufacturing methamphetamine; first-offense distribution of methamphetamine; first-offense distribution of fentanyl; and possession of a stolen handgun, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Hicks in April 2023 after authorities found large quantities of illegal narcotics in his home while serving a search warrant as an investigation by the department’s Street Crimes Unit.

Hicks was sentenced by Judge Benjamin Culbertson.

“We greatly appreciate the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit,” Assistant Solicitor Leigh Andrew Waller, said. “The hard work and dedication resulted in the removal of a drug dealer from our community and got a weapon out of the hands of criminals and off the streets.”
