Murray Energy confirms layoffs at three subsidiaries

NEWS9 got confirmation that Murray Energy Corporation and its subsidiaries will be laying off more than 150 employees.The company is citing President Barack Obama's administration as the main reason why the layoffs were made.In a letter given to employees, Bob Murray, company president, claimed several other reasons why this is being done. Specifically, he cited drastically reduced economic activity, reduced electric power consumption, total destruction of the coal industry by as early as 2030 and the enactment of twelve regulations pending from the Obama administration.Here's how the layoffs break down:102 people are being laid off at Murray's Utah Energy Incorporated, in Utah. 54 are from Murray's American Coal Company, which has holdings in Illinois and Ohio.Seven are from the Kanawha Transportation Center in Wheeling. There were also some small reductions at a few other subsidiaries as well.
