Murder, rape indictments handed down by Lafayette grand jury

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A grand jury empaneled in the 15th Judicial District Court in Lafayette handed down indictments in several cases of murder, attempted murder and rape on Wednesday.

Dontrell Clark, 23, of Scott, was indicted on the charge of second degree murder in the killing of Nathan Bob. Bob was shot and killed in front of his five-year-old daughter in his home in the 500 block of Orchid Drive Oct. 29.

Cleavon Barton II, 43, of Duson, was indicted on one count of second degree murder in the shooting death of Taj Broussard on Jan. 25.

Damonta Anderson, 21, of Lafayette, was indicted on two counts of attempted second degree murder and one count each of aggravated kidnapping, attempted first degree rape and carjacking. Anderson is accused of jumping into the back seat of a woman’s vehicle at a gas station in the with the intent of raping the victim, who he had been following on social media, in 2022. One of the attempted murder counts refers to a separate incident, procesutors said.

Payton Williams, 19, of Boutte, was inducted on four counts of first degree rape, and Denise Videau, 35, of Lafayette, was indicted on one count of obstruction of justice in separate incidents.
