Amber Alert: MultCo deputies investigate possible sighting of wanted man, kidnapped son on I-84

BREAKING UPDATE: Authorities say a former police officer wanted for kidnapping his son after allegedly killing two people in Washington state shot himself after a police chase ended on Interstate 5 north of Eugene, Oregon, on Tuesday afternoon. His 1-year-old son is safe in police custody, while the suspect’s current condition is unknown as this time, according to authorities.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Multnomah County deputies investigated a “suspicious circumstance” on Interstate 84 related to the ongoing search for a wanted man and his kidnapped son Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to the area of the Bridal Veil exit after “a caller reported seeing a vehicle that possibly matched a vehicle related to this morning’s Amber Alert out of the state of Washington.”

An Amber Alert was issued late Monday night in search of an ex-Yakima police officer who is wanted for the murders of two women and the kidnapping of a 1-year-old boy believed to be his son, according to Washington authorities.

Police believe that Elias Huizar kidnapped his son and that he may be fleeing to Mexico in a black sedan.

“After searching the area with multiple units, speaking with people in the area and speaking with the reporting caller, we did not locate the reported vehicle,” officials said.

Police cleared the area by 10:45 a.m.
