Multitasking Mom Nicole Curtis Breastfeeds Her 2½ -Year-Old Son While Getting Her Eyebrows Done

Nicole Curtis is an outspoken advocate of breastfeeding — even during a primping and pampering session.

The Rehab Addict star posted an Instagram on Thursday of herself breastfeeding son Harper, 2½, while leaning back to get her eyebrows shaped.

“Just sharing for all the moms out there who always have a kiddo or two in tow 🙂 my eyebrow appointment today –Edwin somehow manages to keep both of them on my face while my little one goes from nursing to playing horsey in my lap :),” she captioned the photo. “#normalizebreastfeeding and let’s remember the rest of the world weans way past our country’s archaic thought of up til 6 mos …insert roll my eyes here.”

Curtis, 41, has faced fallout from her decision to continue breastfeeding the toddler.

“I keep saying it’s not like he’s 7 or 8 — he’s still a baby,” she previously told PEOPLE. “Every single day I have to weather criticism about how my child is too old to breastfeed. But when he weans, it’s going to be his decision. I truly believe it’s the child’s choice.”

She practices baby led weaning, in which children who are still breastfeeding or taking a bottle are encouraged to self-feed appropriate finger foods, rather than being slowly introduced to purées with a spoon.

According to the World Health Organization, exclusive breastfeeding for six months is the optimal way of feeding infants. Thereafter, infants should receive complementary foods with continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond.

Curtis is currently embroiled in a vicious two-year custody battle with Harper’s father, Minnesota-based businessman Shane Maguire, who filed court documents this week requesting more parenting time. He has accused Curtis of continuing to breastfeed Harper to limit his visitations with their son.

“It’s so important that children have both of their parents,” she said. “But [preventing] me from breastfeeding my child just so he can see the dad is not right.”
