"That's what we were originally called for. When we arrived on the scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames," he said. "We had 15 units respond in all. About all of the Henderson County fire departments were there, and we had some from Polk County as well."

Burrell said no one was in the building and no firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze for more than four hours.

"We were there until a little after 7 this morning, so it was a long morning," he said.

Burrell said camp staff called the building a lodge, and it had a kitchen, cafeteria and office space. According to https://www.campwayfarer.com/, the camp, which is for boys and girls ages 6-16, is open during the summer from June through August.

Henderson County Fire Marshal Kevin Waldrup said the fire is still under investigation. Early in the day on March 1, he said the heat was still too intense to begin the investigation.

"I think we may start it this afternoon but haven’t started yet and probably won’t be finished today," he said.
