‘Multiple’ Family Dollars in Ohio closing

(WJW) — The parent company of Family Dollar has announced plans to close “multiple” locations in Ohio next month.

The notice to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said the closings will take place “on or about” April 20, and will impact about 260 employees.

The specific store locations have not yet been publicly announced. FOX 8 has reached out to the company for more information.

The announcement comes after the company announced earlier this month plans to close 1,000 stores nationwide. The company cited a $1.7 billion net loss in three months.

As part of the restructuring, 600 stores will close later this year, and nearly 400 more will close when their leases expire.

The company operates more than 16,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
