Fire caused damaged to a rural Shelby County post office, which will force mail service to move to Sidney, according to a spokesperson for the United States Postal Service.
The fire was called out around 1:30 p.m. at the post office in Pemberton, located on Palestine Street, about a half-mile north of state Route 706, dispatchers confirmed to News Center 7.
Several fire departments from across Shelby County were all called to the fire. The number of departments that did respond wasn’t immediately known.
The fire will force those who get mail, or send mail through this post office branch, to instead go the Sidney post office location, the spokesperson said.
“There was a fire at the Pemberton Post Office today, and operations will be moved to the Sidney Post Office until further notice,” the spokesperson said in a emailed statement to News Center 7.
“PO Box customers can pick up their mail beginning tomorrow at the Sidney Post Office, 135 N Ohio Ave, Sidney, OH 45365. Hours of operations are Mon-Fri from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am until noon.”
