Multiple agencies needed to put out barn fire in Outagamie County

BUCHANAN, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say multiple agencies were needed to assist in putting out a barn fire Monday afternoon in Outagamie County.

According to a release from the Buchanan Fire Department, Crews from the Buchanan Fire Department, along with crews from Combined Locks, Hollandtown Fire, and Wrightstown Fire responded at 2:29 to a reported fire at N296 Loderbauer Road in Buchanan.

Upon arrival, officials said the barn was in the process of being dismantled and flames were coming from its north end.

With the barn being filled with hay and multiple other buildings near the fire, crews worked quickly to put out the flames while also using an excavator to help dismantle portions of the barn and pile hay to ensure the fire was completely out.

Firefighters report being on the scene for nearly three and a half hours including time to clean up the area afterwards.

Officials say the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and the cost of the total damages is undetermined at this time due to the age and condition of the barn.
