University and transportation officials have announced a nearly $23 million construction project to ease traffic congestion on Interstate 215 near the California State University, San Bernardino campus.

The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority and the city of San Bernardino, in cooperation with Caltrans District 8, are partnering on the expected 12-month construction project that includes reconfiguring the existing interchange.

Construction activities may also include pavement work, traffic shifts and nighttime lane and ramp closures.

During the construction, commuters should use caution throughout the corridor as workers and heavy equipment will be present, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority officials said.

The transportation authority recommends allowing extra time to reach your destination as delays may occur.
