Update: Another car crash brings Highway 101 traffic to a stop in Pismo Beach

Update, 6:45 p.m.:

A second car crash is slowing traffic on southbound Highway 101 in Pismo Beach on Friday evening.

According to CHP’s incident report page, two vehicles were involved in a collision around 6:22 p.m.; one vehicle is in the center divider just north of the Mattie Road overpass.

Caltrans QuickMap shows standstill traffic in the area as of 6:45 p.m.

Multiple cars were reportedly involved in a collision on Highway 101 in Pismo Beach on Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s incident report page, between four and five vehicles were involved in a crash near the southbound Five Cities Drive off-ramp just after 4:50 p.m.

An ambulance was en route to the scene, according to the CHP. All lanes are currently open.

The incident was causing a traffic backup along the highway between Five Cities Drive and Avila Beach Drive.

Standstill traffic was reported in spots along that route, according to Caltrans QuickMap.
