If Donald Trump is a billionaire, why can't he post $454 million for his fraud judgment?

That wasn't a trick math question.

It is what people — editorial cartoonists among them — have wondered since news broke that lawyers for the former president said it would be "practical impossibility" for Trump to provide bond on a $454 million New York fraud scheme judgment.

"The exorbitant and punitive amount of the judgment coupled with an unlawful and unconstitutional blanket prohibition on lending transactions would make it impossible to secure and post a complete bond," Trump’s lawyers, Clifford Robert and Alina Habba, also wrote.

According to USA TODAY, Trump's lawyers say he would need nearly "$1 billion in cash equivalents to post the bond while also keeping his businesses running and paying other debts."

Even with that “explanation,” the math still isn't exactly mathing.

Forbes estimates that Trump has a net worth of $2.6 billion, putting him in 1290th place on its billionaires list.

With $231.1 billion France's Bernard Arnault and his family top Forbes' list followed by Amazon's Jeff Bezos with 193.3 billion.

New York's attorney general can seize Trump's bank accounts and real estate if he does not come up with the $454 million or get a bond.

Trump's deadline to post the bond is Monday.

Editorial cartoonists have offered some creative ways the preemptive Republican presidential candidate can come up with the bond money.
