This is how much McGregor made for that money fight

From Digital Spy

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather's big boxing fight last weekend lived up to its billing – at least for the fighters anyway.

Despite the UFC champ losing by technical knock out in the tenth round to the boxing pro at their superfight in Las Vegas on August 26, McGregor can sleep tight knowing that his "f**k you" suit and wallet will be bursting at the seams.

The Irishman is on course to pocket $125 million from his megafight defeat to Mayweather – and he could even overtake Real Madrid star Christiano Ronaldo on the next Forbes Rich List of the world's highest-paid athletes.

Ronaldo topped the most recent Forbes list in June 2017 with earnings of £71m, but the Real Madrid star will likely drop down after McGregor's career-high pay day.

And McGregor, who often refers to himself as 'Mystic Mac' due to his cheeky front of correctly predicting the round and the method by which he will win his UFC bouts, incredibly predicted the whole thing.

Speaking to Ronaldo back in 2016, he said: ""You [Ronaldo] were number one on the Forbes list, I was like number 35 or something. I'll get up. Maybe next year I'll get you."

BBC Sport reports that McGregor will make about $100m (£77.5m) for the time he spent between the ropes, which equals out at roughly $3m (£2.3m) a minute.

And as for Floyd Mayweather, insiders are estimating that the American boxer will earn a staggering $373 million in total for his 10-round TKO of McGregor.

That means the professional boxer, who hung up his gloves with a 50-0 unbeaten record, earned a remarkable $37m per round.

The 40-year-old would have topped Forbes' rundown of sports highest earners, but will drop off that particular list because of his retirement.

According to Forbes, Mayweather's career earnings before Saturday night's fight with McGregor totalled approximately $700 million.

But now, the last fight of his career will push Mayweather's all-time earnings over $1 billion – a mark reached only by two other elite, iconic athletes: Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

The Forbes Rich Lists are calculated by adding together salaries, bonuses and endorsements, which include sponsorships and appearance fees.
