MTR Gaming gets Ohio gaming license

CHESTER, W. Va. (AP) -- MTR Gaming Group Inc. announced Tuesday that it has received the permanent gaming license it needs to install and operate video lottery terminals at its Scioto Downs racetrack in Columbus, Ohio.

Scioto Downs is the first of Ohio's racetracks to be granted a permanent license to operate video lottery terminals in the state, according to the company.

MTR Gaming already opened the racing season at Scioto Downs and plans on opening its gaming business June 1. The site will has 2,125 video lottery terminals and it is now permitted to increase that number to as many as 2,500.

The company, based in Chester, W. Va., operates four casinos and racetracks in the U.S. Its shares fell 7 cents to $4.71 in midday trading. They have traded in a 52-week range of $1.30 to $5.36 per share.
