LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — MSU Police and Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation call a Thursday evening campus “bomb threat and weapons threat”  a hoax after investigating the threat and finding it was not credible.

A Thursday evening caller reported a bomb and weapons and multiple locations on campus, MSU Police said in a social media post.

“Based on how the call was received and other information, we did not believe the threat to be credible, but we still responded appropriately,” officials said in the social media post.

After responding “out of an abundance of caution” to the locations the caller had mentioned, the campus department and assisting agencies declared the threat to be a hoax.

Department officials said there is no threat or danger to the community at this time. There is no indication the person responsible for the threats was identified or arrested.
