7 suspects identified in alleged hate crime at MSU

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State University is investigating an alleged hate crime.

According to the university, an “aggravated assault” happened near the MSU Main Library on Circle Drive on Monday, Apr. 15, 2024.

The university originally said, “A group of approximately five suspects assaulted two victims, intentionally selecting the victim(s) because of the perpetrator’s sexual orientation bias.” The university now says it has identified seven suspects and none of them “are affiliated with the university.”

Additionally, the university says it will submit this case to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges once its investigation is complete.
