MS man sentenced to 20 years in prison for threatening mail carrier
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Sledge, Mississippi man was sentenced to 20 years in prison following his conviction for threatening a postal employee with a dangerous weapon.
According to court documents, Henry Weaver, 47, was convicted in federal court on February 13 for a threat that took place on April 23, 2022.
Weaver was sentenced on Tuesday by United States District Judge Sharion Aycock to 240 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He’d been in custody since his arrest in April 2022 and was remanded to the U.S. Marshals to begin serving his sentence.
Police are on the lookout for four men who allegedly used guns to carjack a man late Friday evening.
“We will not tolerate threats of violence against mail carriers while they are simply doing their jobs,” U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner said. “We commend the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for their work on this investigation and for helping to protect the community from this defendant.”
This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by AUSA Robert Mims.
