MS man found guilty of stealing over $12K from Walmart

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Horn Lake man was found guilty of an armed robbery and aggravated assault on Tuesday after he was accused of stealing more than $12,000 from a Neighborhood Walmart in Mississippi.

Marcus Fields, 34, was sentenced to 30 years in state prison, according to the State of Mississippi office of the District Attorney.

On July 14, 2022, reports state that Fields held the Neighborhood Walmart Money Center in Horn Lake at gunpoint with a semiautomatic firearm.

As he demanded money from an employee, he reportedly said, “Don’t make me kill you. Give me all the money.”

Prosecutors say that Fields left the store with over $12,000 in cash.

According to reports, Fields was identified by a debit card and firearm that was left at the scene. MDOT traffic cameras also captured his black Pontiac used during his escape.

The case was investigated by the Horn Lake Police Department with assistance from the Desoto County District Attorney’s Office.

“Our office is going to hit hard against those who endanger the lives of others in Desoto
County,” said Matthew Barton, Desoto County District Attorney. “As always, I commend my
staff for relentless dedication to ensuring justice for victims and removing violent criminals from
our communities.”
