MS convicted sex offender charged with abusing child

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A convicted sex offender is facing new charges of sexual abuse involving a child, according to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office.

Raymond Carrol Rowland was reportedly arrested Thursday.

According to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received information regarding the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. Rowland was named as the suspect.

Rowland is now facing charges of sexual battery and molestation.

The sheriff’s office says that Rowland had been previously convicted of sex crimes in May 2023. Panola County officials have not released details on either incident.

The sheriff’s office says Rowland is being held at the Panola County Detention Center without bond.
