In January, the restaurant was named as one of 20 semifinalists for restaurant of the year.

Vestige, at 715 Washington Avenue in downtown Ocean Springs, was announced as a finalist Wednesday morning in a ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C.

Winners will be announced during the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony June 10 in Chicago.

Also nominated for Outstanding Restaurant for 2024 are:

The Compound, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Convenience West, Marfa, Texas

Langbaan, Portland, Oregon

Mixtli, San Antonio, Texas

Vestige opened in 2013 and owner/chef Alex Perry, a Le Cordon Bleu College graduate, has been nominated three times before for a James Beard award, one of the most prestigious honors for restaurants and chefs.

When nominated in January, Perry thanked his team at the restaurant and the James Beard Foundation “for this unbelievable recognition,” saying “Never in a million years did we think we’d get to this stage.

An upscale Modern American restaurant, Vestige serves farm-to-table and seasonal dishes.
