MPD: Man stabbed while sitting in Wendy’s drive-thru

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing a man waiting in a Wendy’s drive-thru, police say.

On Thursday, officers were called to the Wendy’s on Washington Avenue following an alleged assault.

When they arrived at the scene they learned that the victim and two others were in the drive-thru ordering food.

The victim said that’s when the suspect, later identified as Elmo Lewis, approached the vehicle and opened the victim’s car door demanding money.

The victim said he refused and while he was trying to remove Lewis from his vehicle, he used a large piece of glass to stab the victim several times in his left hand.

Officers were able to detain Lewis without incident and the victim identified Lewis as the person who attacked him.

Officers recovered the glass used in the alleged assault that caused serious injury to the victim.

The victim was taken to Regional One Hospital and had to get several stitches.

Lewis was taken to 201 Poplar Ave.
