MEMPHIS, Tenn. — From “private parts” to pistols — police say they were both pulled out overnight, resulting in one man being stabbed and another being shot in South Memphis.

Neighbor fires shots at dogs after MLGW worker attacked

According to reports, the incident happened in the area of E. Trigg Avenue and Pond Street a little before around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.

A man told officers he met another man at the Greyhound bus station. Later in the day, he picked him up from work at Lamar and Pendleton.

After riding around, the driver allegedly stated he wanted to “get his rocks off,” and pulled out his private area.

The passenger said he was not comfortable doing that and tried to leave. That is when the driver reportedly became more aggressive.

MPD says the passenger tried to get out of the vehicle, but the driver stabbed him in the shoulder. The passenger then fired shots at the driver, striking him, and fled the scene.

He told officers that he lost the gun while he was running away.

A young man who spoke with WREG said he was in a house near the scene when all this happened.

His uncle opened the door in an attempt to help the man who’d been shot.

“He wanted to help somebody that needed help,” he said.

He described a man stumbling and making his way to the house before they were able to render aid and call the police.

The young man admitted that the whole situation has left him with more questions than answers.

“I was very confused,” he said.

Police say both men are considered suspects. This remains an ongoing investigation.

One of the men is listed in non-critical condition and is expected to be okay. However, the second man had to be rushed into surgery.

WREG will stay on the story and follow up to see if any charges have been filed.
