MPD arrest 2 men for armed robbery, assaulting officer

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it arrested two men for robbing a person at gunpoint on Tuesday afternoon.

MPD said the victim was approached by the suspects just before 1:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Kearny Street NW. They physically assaulted and pointed a gun at the person, demanding their property.

An officer heard the person call for help and responded, ordering the suspects to stop.

One of the two suspects assaulted the officer and fired a gun before fleeing.

Responding officers later detained two people, who were later charged for their involvement in the incident. 23-year-old Kurtis Hubbard, of Fort Washington, Md., was charged with Armed Robbery, Endangerment with a Firearm and Carrying a Pistol Without a License. 21-year-old Brian Richard, of Fairland, Md., was charged with Armed Robbery.
