MPD: 2 men wanted for robbery, fatal shooting at NW DC business

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it was looking for two men who robbed a Northwest D.C. business and fatally shot someone Wednesday.

At 2:57 p.m., MPD said the two men entered a business in the 5100 block of Georgia Ave. armed with guns.

The men demanded property and money, and the victims complied, according to MPD. During the robbery, one of the men shot a person in the store.

The men fled the business with the stolen money and property.

MPD said the injured person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He died there. He was identified as 41-year-old Philip Prendergast, of Silver Spring, Md.

In post on the platform X, MPD said it was being investigated as a homicide.
