What started off as a display of concern for the people of his flood-affected state by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan ended in him being widely ridiculed on social media.

The MP chief minister was visiting affected areas and families of Madhya Pradesh, who have been adversely hit by non-stop torrential downpour leading to over a 100 villages in Rewa and Satna district being virtually devastated by floods on Sunday.

However, his efforts to survey the scene and help people came to a nought when a photograph showing policemen carrying him through ankle-deep muddy water while inspecting the MP floods went viral on social media.

Chauhan, who was is crisp white trousers and white shoes, hadn’t even managed to get a blob of mud on his pristine clothing and was carried aloft through muddy water, followed by his policemen, party workers and government officials.

The photo shows him smiling, with his arms around two policemen who are carrying him.

No sooner did the photo go viral on Twitter that people started to ridicule him, lambasting him for his insensitivity.
