(NEXSTAR) – Three-time Olympic medalist and Assistant Volleyball Coach at the University of Nebraska Jordan Larson is applauding Caitlin Clark for bringing more attention to women’s sports.

“It’s a heavy lift, but it’s moving everybody forward,” Larson said. “Anytime you’re kind of in the limelight, you’re kind of open to a lot of either positive criticism or negative, you know, and so how to handle that and then to be at the age that she is and then trying to navigate that, that’s hard stuff.”

The 37-year-old from Hooper, Nebraska is looking to win the gold with the U.S. Women’s National Team this summer in Paris. The team won its first Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

“Because there’s a lot of ways to win and not every win looks the same. And so how do you figure that out, and trying to figure that out is the best part,” Larson said.

Larson was named Best Outside Hitter and MVP in Tokyo.
