Move over Potato Salad, a butter knife is the next Kickstarter craze

You might not be looking for the most Stupendous Splendiferous ButterUp butter knife out there for your cold butter, but almost 7,000 backers on Kickstarter definitely want to improve their experience when it comes to spreading butter taken right out of the fridge. With 12 days left in the campaign, the aforementioned knife project raised over AUD $170,000, well above its initial AUD $38,000 goal.

The ButterUp knife wants to fix all the problems you may have with spreading the delicious treat immediately after taking it out of the fridge over your favorite bread – because who wants to wait for butter to warm up, right?

The clever trick for the ButterUp is a built-in grater that helps the hungry person “aerate and soften butter, making it easy to spread.”

The ButterUp is made of dishwasher-friendly stainless steel, costs $12 (AUD), and should be shipped to your door by March next year in case you aren’t one of the 5,000 lucky early backers who will be able to use the Stupendous Splendiferous ButterUp by Christmas.

A video showing this food-related Kickstarter project — which is definitely more useful than Potato Salad — follows below.
