While in the U.S., police departments often opt for low-range sedans and SUVs as their patrol cars, budget sensitivity doesn't seem to be afflicting the crime-fighters of Dubai who on Monday introduced the latest editions to their fancy fleet.

After first rolling out the Ferrari and Lamborghini last month, this week Dubai police added the Mercedes and Bentley, showing off the pricey new acquisitions at an ostentatious exhibition.

The Middle East website Al Bawaba is calling it a "pimped out superfleet," while Al Arabiya dubbed the additions "The Fast and the Luxurious" in "a city of boundless bling."

The cars - freshly painted in the Dubai Police force colors of green and white - are on display this week at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, according to Emirates 247. The website says these lavish models are on exhibit: Mercedes SLS, Bentley Continental GT Coupe, Aston Martin One-77, Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari. Dubai Police say the Ferrari will be driven by female officers. Neighbor Saudi Arabia prohibits women from driving.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police's Deputy Commander General told Al Arabiya last month after the Lamborghini was introduced that the blingy cars are meant to show "how classy Dubai is."

Describing a creative sort of camouflage, Dubai police chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan says the sports cars will patrol high-end locations, like the area around Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper.

The Lamborghini Aventador has a reported maximum speed of 217mph and can get from zero to 60 in just 2.8 seconds. But Khalfan said last month that "these cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists, they will be used for road security in different areas of Dubai."

Though the force doesn't seem to be suffering from sticker shock, the reported price paid for the vehicles according to Al Bawaba was $500,000 each for the Lamborghini and Ferrari. With only 77 Aston Martin One-77s manufactured, that model has a price tag of more than $1.5 million.
