Mountain View Humane receives $10,000 from Petco Love in support of lifesaving work

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR)—National Nonprofit Petco Love is distributing $10,000 in grant investment money to Mountain View Humane in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Virginia.

The investment is part of $1.5 million in grants recently announced by Petco Love for more than 100 spay/neuter clinics and other low-cost veterinary care providers to help increase access to veterinary care for pets in their communities. The investments are also being granted to reduce economic euthanasia, and the surrender of pets to shelters when families are not able to afford needed veterinary treatment.

“Petco Love knows pets are family and we strive to take care of them the best we can, though the reality is not everyone has equal access to veterinary care as many pet parents face difficult financial times,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “That’s why we are proud to support our partner animal welfare organizations in providing helpful services in their communities, so we can keep pets and their families together.”

The mission of Mountain View Humane is to be a community resource that provides high-quality, affordable spay/neuter and pet wellness services in Southwestern Virginia. Since its inception, Mountain View Humane has performed nearly 100,000 spay/neuter surgeries and has become a critical cornerstone in the animal welfare community that saves hundreds of lives every year of both companion pets and community animals.

“Petco Love’s investment will provide 150 high-quality, affordable spay/neuter surgeries for pets and 125 wellness vaccines at Mountain View Humane’s Christiansburg, Virginia, clinic,” said Laurie Gibbons, Executive Director of Mission Delivery with Mountain View Humane. “Petco Love’s investment in our community will allow us to offer reduced rates to families struggling to provide healthcare for their pets, empowering them to afford lifesaving services for their pets in need. This will help eliminate pet overpopulation.
