Mountain Goat Drowns While Trying to Escape Photo-Crazy Crowd in Alaska

After attempting to escape a crowd, a white goat jumped into the ocean and couldn't get back to shore because of a mob of people on the shore.

If there's one thing we've learned since the dawn of the selfie, it's that taking them with animals is generally not a good idea.

Another animal fell victim to a crowd of people looking for the perfect Instagram in Seward, Alaska, over the weekend, reported local NBC station KTUU. After attempting to escape a crowd, the mountain goat jumped into the ocean and was unable to get back to shore because of the mob of people on the shore.

The goat first entered the water at Resurrection Bay, near downtown Seward. From there, the panicked animal continued on to Small Boat Bay.

Investigation revealed a large amount of people followed the goat towards the SeaLife Center on the rocks resulting in the goat jumping back in to the water, Alaska Wildlife Troopers reported. The goat was unable to come back to the rocks due to the people standing on the rocks.

The troopers are asking people to please be aware of local wildlife and to give the animals adequate space, in an effort to prevent a repeat of the incident.
