Mount Notre Dame product Gabbie Marshall helps lead Iowa Hawkeyes to national title game

Mount Notre Dame 2019 graduate Gabbie Marshall has helped lead the Iowa Hawkeyes women's program to its first-ever national championship appearance.

Marshall, a senior guard for the Hawkeyes, started and played 39 minutes in Iowa's 77-73 upset victory over undefeated South Carolina Friday night in the Final Four in Dallas. Marshall recorded three steals, a pair of rebounds and an assist.

In the Elite 8 on March 26, Marshall had 14 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, with four steals and two rebounds in a 97-83 victory over Louisville that sent Iowa to the Final Four for the first time since 1993.

Marshall has played all four years at Iowa and has been a starter for each of the last three. For her collegiate career, she is averaging 6.7 points per game and is a 40% shooter from three-point range.

Iowa needs one more win to capture the program's first-ever national championship. The Hawkeyes (31-6) will face LSU (33-2) in the national title game on Sunday afternoon at American Airlines Center in Texas.

Marshall is no stranger to big games. Playing for Dr. Scott Rogers at Mount Notre Dame, she helped lead the Cougars to Division I state championships in 2017 and 2019. During Marshall's four seasons, Mount Notre Dame went 94-15 overall and collected three Girls Greater Catholic League titles (two outright), three district championships and two regional crowns to go with the two state titles.

Marshall was a four-time first-team all-GGCL selection and was the league's player of the year as a senior in 2019. In addition to being a four-time all-district and three-time All-Ohio selection, Marshall was a McDonald's All-American Nominee and was named to the USA Today All-USA second team.
