Mount Hope man charged after overdose death in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — A third man was arrested and charged with felony drug charges regarding an overdose death in Fayette County.

Two Raleigh County men face felony drug charges

49-year-old Robert F. Ruth II, of Mount Hope, was charged with the felony offense of Drug Delivery Resulting in Death and Conspiracy after his involvement in an overdose death that occurred on December 26, 2023.

Deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspected overdose that occurred in the Mount Hope area of Fayette County on December 26, 2023. During the investigation, detectives discovered that the person did die from an overdose, and they found the people who were involved in selling the drugs that led to the person’s death.

Two suspects airlifted after Summers County car chase

Ruth will await court proceedings, and join both Griffith and Foley, the other two people involved in the incident, in Southern Regional Jail.

Criminal complaints are only documents that allege criminal charges. The defendants are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office’s Detective’s Bureau is investigating the incident.
