Motorists in U.S. drove 1.9 percent more miles in February vs last year

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Motorists traveled 233.4 billion miles (376 billion km) on U.S. roads and highways in February, a 1.9 percent increase over the same period last year, according to monthly U.S. Department of Transportation figures released on Friday.

U.S. demand has been closely watched in the oil market, because supply overhang caused a price-rout beginning in 2014.
