Motorcyclist dies Thursday morning in crash at Sunshine and Grant
Springfield police encouraged drivers to avoid the intersection of Sunshine Street and Grant Avenue on Thursday morning following a fatal vehicle collision.
Authorities said that Matthew Sisak, 52, was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Sunshine Street around 7:30 a.m. approaching when a westbound Chevy Tahoe attempting to turn south on Grant Avenue collided with the bike.
Sisak, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene. The circumstances of the crash are part of an ongoing investigation.
This was Springfield’s ninth fatal motor vehicle crash in 2024 and 41st motorcycle death since 2019.
