A car crash involving a motorcycle near Conway has left one person dead and another in the hospital with injuries, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Two people were on a Harley Davidson motorcycle driving south from Tiffany Lane and two people were driving west along S.C. 44 in an SUV when the vehicles collided around 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Butler said in a release. Both people on the motorcycle were sent to the hospital where the passenger died from their injuries.

The people in the SUV were not hurt. The Horry County Coroner’s office has not released the name of the deceased at time of publication.

The crash caused the lanes of traffic headed toward the beach to close, causing delays and backed up traffic Wednesday morning, WPDE reported.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
