Motor vehicle accident claims life of Hamilton man
Sep. 14—A Tuesday morning motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Columbus Road and Highway 8 East, east of Aberdeen, claimed the life of a Hamilton man.
According to a press release from Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, Tyler Jones, 27, was the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling north on Columbus Road. His vehicle collided with a garbage truck owned by Waste Connections of Pontotoc traveling west on Highway 8.
The time of the accident was 7:13 a.m., and Jones was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory, where he was dead on arrival at 8:15 a.m. Gurley said the cause of death was multiple trauma.
He added Jones was a nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Gurley's press release stated the condition of the garbage truck driver is unknown.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
