Mother jailed for lying about real father on birth certificate to 'spite' ex
A bitter mum who lied about who the identity of her baby’s father to spite her ex has been jailed for eight months.
Louise Boyce named her new boyfriend Nathan Leggatt as the father of her newborn on the birth certificate, instead of former partner Ashley Sayce.
Boyce, 30, acted “out of spite” by leaving Mr Sayce off the birth certificate after the pair went through a bitter break-up.
Leggatt, 34, was aware of the scam and cried while signing the document, telling staff: “It’s a bit emotional to register the baby’s birth.”
Social services investigated the scam and a paternity test later revealed who the real father was.
Boyce and Leggatt, both of Manselton, Swansea, were arrested and admitted wilfully giving false information concerning registration of a birth.

David Singh, defending Boyce, said she had a “desire” for Leggatt to be the baby’s dad.
Andrew Evans, defending Leggatt, said he “had a genuine desire” to play an active role in the baby’s welfare and wanted to be loyal to Boyce.
Boyce, who is pregnant again, was jailed for eight months and Leggatt jailed for six months at Swansea Crown Court.
