Mother and daughter reunited after hostage ordeal

STORY: Roman-Gat was taken captive by Hamas gunman on October 7 from Kibbutz Be'eri. Her brother told Reuters the mother handed her child to her husband so they could run faster and hide, while she stopped, placing her hands behind her head before disappearing.

She was released under a seven-day truce between Hamas and Israel in which the militant group freed hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.

Her brother, Gili Roman, speaking to Reuters on Thursday, said he could not yet elaborate on the conditions she was held in but said she had close to no information about the outside world or control over her movement.

Roman and Roman-Gat's sister-in-law, Carmel Gat, 39, is still held captive in Gaza.
