Motel 6 resident arrested on suspicion of armed robbery at another Motel 6 in Barstow

A 26-year-old man living at Motel 6 in Barstow was arrested on suspicion of committing an armed robbery at another Motel 6 across town.

Barstow Police officials reported that at approximately 8:52 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to the suspected robbery at the motel on Yucca Avenue.

Officers and detectives responded to the scene and learned that a man had entered the motel, pointed a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money.

The clerk handed over the money to the suspect, who fled by foot south on Yucca Avenue.

Detectives reviewed a surveillance video, then shared a description of the suspect and his picture with all police units in the field.

Officers also obtained additional CCTV video that showed the robbery suspect running to an orange Toyota Prius and fleeing westbound on Main Street.

At approximately 12:32 p.m., police spotted the orange Toyota Prius traveling on West Main Street near L Avenue.

An investigative traffic stop was made, and the officer located the driver, who was identified as Roshud Pree, 26, of Barstow.

The officer noticed that Pree matched the description of the robbery suspect. The officer also found a mask and clothing worn by the suspect inside the vehicle during the robbery.

Authorities also discovered that Pree was living at Motel 6 on West Main Street, about 2-miles west of the Yucca Avenue location.

On Monday, officers were issued a search warrant for the suspect’s motel room to search for the gun and money taken during the suspected robbery at Motel 6 on Yucca Avenue.

Pree was arrested and booked on suspicion of an armed robbery at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail, where bail is set at $150,000.

He was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Victorville Superior Court, booking records show.
