Most of SLO County saw less than 1 inch of rain in storm — except this spot. What’s next?

One San Luis Obispo County spot saw 4 inches of rain over the past 24 hours — but most of the rest of the region received less than an inch.

A total of 4.02 inches of rain had fallen at Rocky Butte north of San Simeon as of 10:54 a.m. Friday, according to the San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works’ Water Resources Division.

The latest series of showers comes as a storm sweeps through the Central Coast, bringing high surf, gusty winds and mountain snow to the area.

What’s in the weather forecast?

The National Weather Service’s seven-day forecast for San Luis Obispo calls for plenty of rain heading into the weekend.

There’s an 80% chance of precipitation on Friday with less than a tenth of an inch of rain possible during the day and up to half of an inch overnight, the weather service said.

Wind gusts could reach 25 mph during the day and 30 mph at night.

The high temperature will be near 60 degrees and the low temperature around 50 degrees, according to the forecast.

Saturday will also see consistent showers with a high near 57 and a low around 46. Winds will be around 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

There’s a chance of rain before 10 a.m. Sunday with a slight chance of showers after that.

Later in the day, skies will start to clear with a high near 60 and a low around 40.

San Luis Obispo will see sunny skies on Monday with a high near 62 and a low around 42.

There’s a slight chance of rain Tuesday after 4 p.m., as well as that night mainly after 10 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be 63 and the low will be 46.

Wednesday could also see a little rain, with a high near 62 and a low around 45.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 61, the weather service said.

Rain is also expected in Paso Robles and Pismo Beach on Friday through Sunday morning, the weather service said.

National Weather Service issues wind, high surf advisories

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Thursday for the mountains and interior valleys of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

The agency is predicting winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph.

The wind advisory will remain in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Also on Thursday, the weather service issued a high surf advisory for beaches in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, predicting large breaking waves of 10 to 18 feet with dangerous rip currents and minor flooding in low-lying coastal areas.

That advisory will remain in effect 4 a.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Monday.
