Most roads closing in Yellowstone National Park

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — The National Park Service says most roads in Yellowstone National Park closed for the season. Monday.

The agency closes roads to most of the park's popular tourist destinations so workers can prepare the roads for commercially guided snowmobile and snow coach travel, which starts Dec. 15.

The road in the northern part of the park that travels from Gardiner, through Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley to Cooke City remains open to wheeled vehicles all year.

The agency says the Yellowstone General Store, Post Office, medical clinic, campground and Albright Visitor Center at Mammoth Hot Springs remain open all year.

However, temporary travel restrictions can occur at any time due to winter weather, and mud and snow tires or chains may be required.
