What are the most dangerous Clovis intersections?

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Clovis Police Department has released the locations of the top 10 intersections where they saw the most car crashes in 2023.

In 2023, the intersection of Shaw and Willow Avenues saw 34 crashes.

Shaw Avenue saw the most crashes with 86 collisions at four of the five intersections from Willow to Fowler during 2023.

Herndon Avenue came in second with 40 crashes from Clovis Avenue to Fowler Avenue.

Corporal Jordan Hunter with the Clovis Police Department says many of the crashes were caused by people in a hurry.

“With more people on the roadways, some people tend to rush their commute and trying to get there in a hurry and people are not slowing down,” said Hunter.

The report also shows crashes across the city rose 13% from 2022, with injury crashes also up 11%.

The department says most of the crashes happened between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., with Fridays seeing the most collision reports.

“We’re not exactly sure why it’s a Friday, maybe it’s people trying to get off early for the weekend,” Hunter continued.

Adrian Salas, a driver, says with this new information, he is going to think twice about when and where he chooses to drive.

“I don’t like the hectic traffic and with all of that coming to accountability with the accidents that’s pretty tough,” said Salas.

The Clovis Police Department says it will have more officers out on patrol in this area to help enforce all traffic laws.
